Looking for a Laptop
Hi
I' planning on buying a laptop within the next month or so. I'll have around 700-750 to spend on it.
I'll need it mostly for doing work (University), but I also want to be able to play the odd game on it (Basic stuff Like Command and Conquer: Generals) so a semi decent 32/64MB Grafics Card would be needed. I need it to be easily portable and I will need up to 5 hours a day of battery life (I am aware that this is probably going to need 2 batterys) and the hard drive needs to be at least 30gb. Oh, and if it looks good too then thats a bonus!
Anyone know of anything that even comes close to what I want in my price range?
Heres to Hoping!
Falcon
[Edit: Oh yeah, a modem is also a must, and a network interface would also be useful]

C&C Generals aint just a basic game I tell you that! Its one of the most demanding games out there imho!
I dont think 700 squids is gonna be enough for what u want. I think most laptops only supply either a 32mb or 128 mb gpu. These include ATI's 9200,9600 or the 9700. Nvidia's I think are 5200,fx5650go or something.
I had a look at laptopa before I bought mine and gounf that basic notebooks with naff gpu are around 550-700 (usually shared graphics). 800+ is where u start to see basic gpu cards in laptops.
Unless u find a refurbished or second hand laptop, u might be stuck otherwise with 700-750 as your budget.
hope this helps!

Generals is pretty basic as long as you turn off the fancy features, it can run on a basic 800Mhz CPU with only 32Mb Grapics and 128RAM required.
So, a 32MB gfx card would be fine.
