    DVD Drive not working.

    So I am down at my parents house for a couple days and I notice their DVD drive isn't working and after checking the device manager it appears the problem is;
    Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)
    Clicking search for solution does nothing, as does trying to update the driver, or disabling and then enabling the drive.

    Anyone got any idea as to what I should do?

    Re: DVD Drive not working.

    What's worked for me in the past is to switch off, unplug the drive, reboot into windows. Then switch off, re-connect the drive & switch on. This 'should' force windows to re-recognise the drive & write a new registry entry.

    You could always go into the registry and remove the offending part. However regedit is a minefield and you could wreck your OS if you don't know what you're doing.

    Is this Vista/W7?

    I had issues with the upper and lower filters on Vista that caused this error. It's fairly common.

    Re: DVD Drive not working.

    You could try removing the drive in device manger - rebooting - it should readd it. If you still have the same problem I guess its one of the above options!
    Trust

    Yeah I ended up just going into the registry and removing the upper filters, rebooted and it's working now.

    Absolutely no idea what went wrong with it though, just seemed to take a mood.

    Yeah, I ended up removing them myself, pain in the hoop though.

    Nah for some reason that wasn't working either, cheers though.
