Need a PSU
Just slapped my new rig together on a borrowed PSU. Put it through a monitor and it's drawing ~120Watts.
Spec is: Asus P5Q-EM, Intel E6300, 4Gb RAM, 2 x SATA HDDs, DVD burner, PCI TV Tuner.
I was thinking of getting a Corsair but I've also heard good things about Enermax PSUs from a mate.
What are the thoughts on these 2:
- 400W Enermax LibertyECO PSU, 86% Efficiency, 2x PCI-E 6+2P, 5xSATA, 2x12V 32A, PeakPower 440W @ £58.39 inc
- 450W Corsair CMPSU-450HXUK, Modular, Sli, ATX, EPS12V PS/2, 20/24 pin, 5 year Warranty @ £58.64 inc
Cheers.

Re: Need a PSU
What GPU are you planning on using? That might have a big impact on the PSU you need.
Of the two you list I would go for the Corsair one, if only for it's modular nature.

Re: Need a PSU
Hi - I'm only planning on using the onboard gfx.
I don't mind spending more on the PSU to get a more efficient one though as ultimately I'll save on power costs.....

Re: Need a PSU
You'll need to hit 50% rated consumption to get the peak efficiency. Having said that the drop in efficiencey vs load is probably equivelent between PSUs.
What the wattage at peak power and idle?

Re: Need a PSU
Oooh - just worked out the efficiency difference and it'd take ~7.5 years for a more efficient one to pay back. Will probably have a new rig by then. That OCZ looks like the boy then.
Thanks all.

Re: Need a PSU
It's probably a bit late but yeah, I'd also say that OCZ. :)

OCZ StealthXStream 500w Silent Power Supply

Re: Need a PSU
Too late - have got the 400 now - running nicely though. Going to put a power monitor on it later but from memory I think it was running about ~120Watts so glad i didn't get a more expensive one.
