Faulty PSU?
I have just bought a coolermaster Real Power M620 for a new build and i cant seem to get the thing to turn on. I have discovered that SCAN for some reason sent me the EU version instead of a UK version so the power lead was wrong. I am using the power lead from the new monitor (which works) but to no avail. I have flipped the rocker switch countless times, the little red LED at the back doesnt turn on. Is the PSU faulty or is there something I need to do on this PSU/any PSU.
Cheers, iKiX

Re: Faulty PSU?
have you plugged it into the mobo etc?
They will not turn on if you have not. there is a way to get round it but I dont know the specifics.

Re: Faulty PSU?
everything seems plugged in, there was a 4 pin plug which was not a modular cable, but i for the life of me couldn't find anywhere to plug it in

Re: Faulty PSU?
As long as the motherboard is connected properly and the power switch wired up the PSU should power up when you press the button. APFC means the same PSU can be sold worldwide because it accepts all mains voltages it's only the power cable that's different really. I'd say it's faulty myself but to double check - load the PSU with some HDDs/optical drives or whatever since some PSUs have a minimum output wattage then connect the green wire to any black wire on the 24 pin connector. Now flip the switch on the PSU and it should power up.

Re: Faulty PSU?
I've managed to now determin tht the PSU is not faulty, but the motherboard does not seem to work. I have placed it on a piece of cardboard to remove any chance of shorts. All that is plugged in is the 2 power connectors (the really long one, and the 8-pin, no need for a 4 pin) and the cpu fan, but the little LED on the power supply does not turn on. How can i check the motherboard to see whether it is faulty or any likely issues.

Re: Faulty PSU?
You could try another motherboard if you have one.

Re: Faulty PSU?
The long psu connector connected is it 24pin? Some PSUs have it split as 2 connectors, 20pin + 4pin and both go into the long psu socket on the motherboard.

Re: Faulty PSU?
Yeah, it is the 24 pin, and its not a split one. So in terms of the correct cables going in its fine.
Basically there is a little led on the back of the PSU to say whether its on, when u do the shorting trick to allow it to power up without a mobo the psu will power a connected fan and the led light comes on. When i then connect the 24pin and 8pin atx to the motherboard the light will not come on on the PSU.

Re: Faulty PSU?
You have connected the power switch from the case to the motherboard right?
