    Exclamation Help

Hi everyone im Tom and i was wondering if you could please help me out by checking if the products i have are compatible with each other and any recommendations. Im wanting to build a reasonably good gaming computer with these parts so yea:

    https://secure.scan.co.uk/aspnet/Shop/Basket.aspx

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/149274...roduct_reviews

Please tell me if these products are good and i also want to ask if i should get core 2 quad instead of core 2 duo. Is it worth it??? Thanks!

    Kind Regards Tom

    Re: Help

I doubt you will need a 750w psu for that setup, maybe change that, and use the extra £'s to buy an ATI 4870?

Hmmm my friend recommended that 700-800 watts would keep my system running smooth, but could you give me a direct link to a nice ATI 4870 please?

    Re: Help

You should check the answers in the other thread you started:

    http://forums.hexus.net/hexus-hardwa...ed-advice.html

The HD4870 will run fine on a decent 450w or 500w PSU. It is not the voltage but the number of amps that can be supplied on the 12v line and the stability of the PSU which are more important than wattage figures which can be misleading.

The 9800GT is a rubbish card for the price now(around £86 for the one linked too) as it is a rebadged 8800GT from 2007. For a similar price the HD4870 will be at least 30% faster IMHO. Also the E8000 series processors are very poor value for money too. For the same price a quad core can be bought which wil have a longer lifespan for future games and applications,

    Re: Help

The PSU you originally listed is a good one but way overkill for what you need.

I'd consider the Corsair HX520w it's modular so you only plug in cables you need and it's in stock atm

And as CAT has said read the answers we gave in your other thread, don't start a new one

To use the 2nd one you will need a different motherboard and DDR3 memory, it will push the price up, if you have a budget, best say that so people know.

Modular PSUs seem great on the surface, but an honest question here: What do you do with the unused leads? I mean, I have 5 PCs in my house, that would be a drawer full of unused cables as I wouldn't have the nerve to throw them out
