    Upgrading netbook memory

    Hi all

I've just ordered a Samsung nc10 netbook, would it make much difference to performance if i upgraded the memory to a 2Gig SODIMM bearing in mind that i will be using it for some light programming using VS2008 express editions, web browsing, word processing and media playback.

    Thanks

    Andy

    Re: Upgrading netbook memory

    Every little helps

Multitasking like that will always be easier with more RAM to chew on, but I would give it a go stock first. I have a similar spec vaio (old centrino 1.6Ghz 512MB RAM) and it wasn't all that bad with XP doing photoshop elements, itunes and firefox etc..

    Re: Upgrading netbook memory

Thanks, i've got the laptop and i'm typing this on it now it seems pretty speedy as it is, so i suppose i'll need to see how good it will be when i start to use it for programming. In any case a 2gb stick of ram is fairly cheap now so i might just get it

    Thanks

Where did you get yours from? The only one I have found in stock so far was the white one from CCL.

    Re: Upgrading netbook memory

Can you give us more details on what it's like? Build quality, screen brightness, battery life, etc?

    Re: Upgrading netbook memory

Got mine yesterday. First impressions are very good. Haven't used it a great deal yet, and I've brought it with me to the LAN party this weekend, so someone more competent can give you a better review. So far, the main (and only) problem I have with it is missing the right shift key, as it's very short.

    Smile Re: Upgrading netbook memory

Adding 2gb Ram to my Samsung NC10 made a big difference to the speed that applications load. However, please note that the speed a web page loads is down to your internet connection and not the system.

I got my Crucial 800mhz memory from <edit> If you dont know which memory you need, go to 'By Netbook' on GearZap. Its very helpful.

Tsk tsk cduk86 - resurrecting an old thread, and then posting links in what appears to be an attempt at advertising in your first post? I might be tempted to think you were selling spam!

    I hope I'm wrong.....
