    Athlon II X4 620 vs Q8200 review!!

    More details here:

    http://en.inpai.com.cn/doc/enshowcon...57&pageid=5641

The gaming performance of Athlon II X4 620 is very similar to the Q8200. However the encoding performance of the Athlon II X4 620 is better than the Q8200 and both processors trade blows in the rendering department. The reviewers also managed a 1ghz overclock too for the Athlon II X4 620 and it is not even a Black Edition processor!!

The Athlon II X4 620 was available for £78 until Ebuyer pulled the web-page:

    http://209.85.229.132/search?q=cache...ient=firefox-a

With a 785G based motherboard one of these Athlon II X4 processors would be a nice and relatively cheap system for general purpose duties!! Hopefully the 45w versions will also be released soon!

Of course if the L3 cache unlocking is possible on these early batches of processors it would be fantastic:

Nice find! At that price point, this could bring quad-core to the masses.

Looks like it. Given that Core i5 takes it to the Phenom II X4 965 BE I don't see that they have a lot of choice, though... A lot is going to depend on the price point on performance of the Core i3...

I reckon that athlon looks pretty much unbeatable for the price.

Hmmmm, depends what the Hyper-threaded dual-core i3 will run like.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

Re: Athlon II X4 620 vs Q8200 review!!

The Q8200 hasn't seen a price drop recently, and urgently needs one. While the X4 620 is a reasonable competitor to it, it will likely be much better value, given that the Q8200 isn't an amazing overclocker.
