    base for video editing/encoding

I have around £700 to spec up a PC to use with Pinnacle/Sony Vegas, capturing video from VCR or directly from flash cards (HD quality) - Then encoding to HD and DVD quality.

Can you help with the hardware - I've got a rough list down, but I'm never sure which motherboard to go for! Any help is greatly appreciated

Your probably best going for a Intel i7 system- which would actually blast through Video workloads, also that motherboard/RAM/and cpu combo youve alreay picked wont work

Just a suggestion of what you could use:
    i7 920
    Motherboard
    RAM
    Case
    Hard Drive
    Power Supply
    Graphics Card

The nVidia GPU should provide acceleration in certain editing programs as well ! The i7 920 is effectively an 8 core CPU as well so it will blast through any video editing and rendering you throw at it. Ive put 6GB of RAM in there becuase then you can get more out of your system if you use a 64-bit OS.

for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

    Re: base for video editing/encoding

Make sure sure you get lots of ram 4GB would be ideal or 6GB if you're going tripple channel. If the software you're using is anything like Adobe Premiere, Encore & After Effects CS3, they use around a 1gb a piece on my work pc.

You also want more than one hard drive. At minimum get one for the OS and one big one for all the video work. Maybe consider one more that's dedicated to video capturing.
