sata has no master or slave....
have you enabled the sata controller?

k tnx saracen sry for puttin in wrong forum.
anyway it seems it could be my board (a7n8x-deluxe Rev. 1.xx)that dont work right ,i've been lookin around and most i've seen have the same prob as me any1 know away to fix this or is a new board a good idea.
I have no idea on the matter chap.. but just to make sure - is your bios flashed to the most recent jobbie? I think an issue with Abits and sata was fixed with a bios flash... but I'm probably wrong.
Make sure you have the 1004 bios, and check that the controller is enabled, there's a jumper on the motherboard and it's set to disabled by default. Look on page 19 of the manual.

yeah i've got the latest bios and the jumper is enabled, i've booted from windows disk and hit f6 to install 3rd party controller s/w but it still comes up "No Drive dectected/Installed"
hit google and dl some drivers to a floppy. had this issue in work - damn annoying.
i put the SI3112r.inf outa silicon_v10022.zip on a floppy and installed that 1 still on luck
i've just noticed that when i turn the pc on the hard drive doesnt seem to spin up (Dead Hard Drive ??????? )
On setting up a sata hard disk, be sure to do the following.
A) put the jumper on master, important to do.
B) configure Bios, the bios system should see the disk, don't do anything else unless bios sees the disk,
C) if its a raid config you'll need to configure the drive in the raid controller
D) install windows with the F6 option.
I'm not quite sure you've done either B or C correctly eyes only. Check your manual for help with Sata setup, my canterwood rig wasn't straightforward to setup, as bios wording of things was quite confusing, but eventually i got it setup.
Hope this helps

im sure there was an option in bios for sata but when i updated the bios too 1004 there is no option so i thought id roll back but the option isnt there any more =/
ive tried jumpers and all that still no go =(
got in contact with supplier and having a little talk to them 2morro =)
so hope i can get it sorted
p.s im not doing raid only single drive
