Uhh have you installed the operating system? NTLDR is a core Windows component....

no, it's a new HDD.... new rig, putting it together..
How;d I get it back on?
Set the bios to boot from the CD rom drive, place your bootable OS CD in the CD rom drive and let it install the Operating system, if there was no operating system on there then NTLDR missing is nothing really new.....

Thanks for your help, I'll have a go later..
Did you expect an operating system to come pre-installed, *me giggles* sorry, it isn't funny...
thats true, I shoulda mentioned theres gotta be something on there to say NTLDR, otherwise it would just report invalid system disc.
I take it you bought the HDD second hand if you don;t have anything in the floppy drive, cos if that drive is brand new, someones had it before you

Or there's another hard drive in the system that's booting but looking at the wrong device for NTLDR... nah I don't think that's possible, that usually doesn't happen until NTLDR has loaded.Originally Posted by m@ttz
Hmmmmm.
edit: Of course if you've formatted it but done nothing with it - you'd probably get that error too.
Thats what I've done...Originally Posted by kez
