Speaker Connections
Due to my lack of success with audigy 2, i decided to invest the money in some new speakers. I picked up some Logic 3 5.1 Soundsystem speakers from Gamestation, and they connect to just about anything.
I connected to my xbox and they sounded lovely, but now comes my hassle -
I have reverted to my old Terratec Aureon 5.1 Fun card, so i rigged these speakers via a 3.5 mm Stereo Jack Cable i believe to the front channel socket on my soundcard. However, the back right speaker appears to be dead (either faulty cable or Dud speaker im thinking) plus sound seems to be rather weird, by this i mean -
Some DVD videos are missing usual sounds, eg (bad example) in the lion king there is NO conversation whatsoever! Just music and the odd rustle of grass here and there. Im not sure if this is to do with dodgy speakers, the way i have this rigged up or what. It is possible to rig these speakers via digital out, but it only works in 2 speaker mode :( (im guessing the audigy 2 supports all 5 in this mode??)
Mp3 playback in wmp is fine, but i would like to know how to increase bass as these speakers have a 25W Woofer (massive thing) yet i feel it is not being throughly used, heck, even my xbox made better use of it with explosions and the like. Anyways could any ppl suggest to me a soultion to my dilemna or an alternative connection method?
I hope i dont have to return these to town as its gonna be hard work :(

Hakuna Matata! (Sorry)
But anyway...
Did the back right speaker work on the XBox? If it did, then its obviously not broken.
The problems with sound seem like you haven't set it up right, at a guess. Try sifting through all the sound options you have and see if anything seems about right (sorry for not being more specific, I don't fiddle with sound much).
Also try uninstalling the drivers (I assume you uninstalled the old Creative drivers), and try running something like Driver Cleaner, then reinstall drivers.
Hope this helps

The conversation is in the centre channel, and it sounds to me like you've only connected front left and right. You mingt need another two 3.5mm jack cables...
-
Well ive inserted the 3.5mm jack into two sockets, and that seems to make the sound work. However next to that are three individual holes saying: Front Left/Right, Back Left/Right and Centre/Subwoofer however i have no clue as to what cables go into these... but even if i got two other 3.5mm jacks, where the heck would i put them with only three sockets to go, and a total of four outputs from the jack cable??

The back of your soundcard should have 3.5mm jacks for front left/right, Back Left/Right and Centre/Subwoofer. Your speaker system has a separate DD5.1 decoder which will take a digital input or a single 3.5mm stereo input. Using the stereo input from the Front left/right on your soundcard, means that only these two channels are going to the speakers. For best results bypass the decoder and plug the soundcard directly into the amplifier built into the subwoofer (using three 3.5mm stereo jack>phono leads), or use the digital output from your soundcard into the digital input on your decoder.

I have this problem with my 51. Digital live card and my DTT2500 5.1 Creative speakers, I have been unable to get the center channel to work, I know the speakers work as it works fine on my shuttle, but trying to get it working on this rig is nigh on impossible.
I know with my Creative setup I needed three 3.5 sockets, the front, rear and surround to get the DTT2500's to work, something my old speakers did not have so when I bought the sound card I needed new speakers as well
Would like to know if you get this sorted tho lol

has your soundcard got a digital (coaxial or optical) out? if so plugging just that into the decoder should work fine. I use my soundstorm via its optical out, and i just set the speaker mode to 5.1 digital in the control panel and i get wonderful sound all around ;) i'm using a proper a/v reciever and speakers tho rather than pc speakers, but the only difference should be in the sound quality, not the connection; so hmm, digital out is your best bet tbh

As far as I can tell i have 2 Digital Outs on my soundcard, however i think it only works in 2 speaker mode :(
-
He's correct - in order to get 5.1 in co-ax or optical out you need a Dolby digital encoder (read nforce MCP-T) so you will only get stereo out - except in movies where the sound stream can get output directly on the digital connection - giving 5.1 (or whatever the DVD is encoded in)
I searched high and low for a plug in sound card with DD encoding but I couldnt find one so I bought a nF2 mobo instead

doesnt the Audiogy 2 have DD on it?

I believe it does, but i traded my faulty Audigy 2 for these new speakers!
