Asus i7 Mobo Advice Please
Can anyone tell me the any important differences between these 3 versions of the P6T Deluxe:

http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Asus-...)-1600(OC)-ATX
http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Asus-...3Gb-s-RAID-ATX
I have done a comparator, and all I can see difference is that the newer boards can accept 24gb RAM rather than 12 but loose 2 sata ports and SAS:O_o1: I just wanna know which one to buy!!!!
(I asked scan a week ago with no success)
Re: Asus i7 Mobo Advice Please
I think the first question to ask yourself is are you going to use the SAS ports? This was the access route for faster hard drives, however with SSD on sata, this is becoming a bit of a moot point. Are you going to use the onboard sound? If so is there any difference? Personally I think the boards all look rather the same and very little difference is price, as a result I would get the SAS one. However personally I am buying a P6T6 as it is legacy free. However if you want to over clock get either of the other two as they support higher overclocking memory speeds. If you going to change your processors regularly get the V2 board as it has the most support life in it.

Another point - IIRC, I think the older P6 boards have holes for 775 heatsink mounts, where as the newer ones use the standard 1366 mount holes.
Re: Asus i7 Mobo Advice Please
If your not going to use some of the kit on the deluxe version then the standard P6T is a pretty solid purchase and cheaper than the deluxe versions and has a better layout than the standard deluxe if your planning on using crossfire or sli

I have seen manufactures stop giving bios updates for older boards to support newer processors, even though the new chips were socket compatible with the board. If however you will not be upgrading the processor in the board, they is no point worrying. If however you are I would always get the newest board revision if possible.

I like the idea of being able to upgrade the processor - even though as yet I have only done it once
(Socket 939) I don't have any need for the SAS so I guess the V2 is the sensible option - but what the difference between that and the P6TD is is anyones guess!! (apart from 4 quid!!)
