Choosing a laptop, around £750
Hi everyone,
Need some help picking a laptop! Its for a girl, she's got about £750 to spend. Most important factors are that it's small and lightweight, fairly good spec, preferably with a built-in webcam. What would you suggest?
On the cards at the moment is a MacBook (not something I'd pick), and a Dell Studio 15 with gubbins adding it up to £650.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated, I haven't bought a laptop in ages.
Cheers.

What about a Acer timeline?

ticks all of the boxes i believe

Would say a decent looking netbook will do?
Unless she has specific cpu-intensive programs that need to run on the system?

Timeline is a very good bet for the money. Great battery life, sound design, only the relatively sluggish CPUs as a downside. If this is going to be her only/main machine, I'd argue against a netbook. Too sluggish, and most of the better performers are still tied to 1024x600 screens. If she could go to £766 (or find it cheaper elsewhere) http://www.dabs.com/products/acer-ti...-vhp-6341.html. Massive disk, OK CPU, dedicated graphics, honking amounts of RAM. Mind you, the bottom end Dell Studio XPS 13 starts at £749 all-in, and that'd be a lot nippier. Bit heavier at 2.2kg, though.
