Intel SSD will come eventually.
New core i5+gd65 and update lappy from RC to retail.
By the way, does anyone know if you upgrade from RC to retail using the £50 offer that was done a while back, is there an option to keep your stuff?
According to a post on Engadget, you can upgrade, but everything ends up in a folder called Windows.old.

So really it's an upgrade in license and bare OS, but not a system upgrade. You will need to re-install everything and copy your files back into place.
At this point in time its looking like - mobo/cpu/ram/gfx.
New cooling fans, RAID 5 array, and possibly a dedicated sound card.

The way I see it, if I am saving up I may as well save up properly and buy the best. I will be going for some raided Intel 32nm SSD's as well as the new ATI 5800 range of graphics card.
Some months of saving ahead and I still have to wait for the release of some of these products so, there really is no rush to spend. I can't imagine I would be needing to upgrade a system for at least a decade with this specification but that's perhaps wishful thinking .

About the only thing I'll change is my hard drive, my current 200 gig boot drive is now rather full.
Got my new system, waiting for money for a ssd then I'm ready to rock and roll
SSD for me but possibly early 2010
New system around christmas (birthday around then too ), gonna go lynnfield i7, GD-65, 5850(70 maybe).
Nothing if I get a copy!! If your system runs Vista fine then there is no reason to "upgrade" your system to run Windows 7 considering the later is more efficient....!
- Another poster, from another forum.I'm commenting on an internet forum. Your facts hold no sway over me.

Absolutely - I got lambasted for getting an SSD - I certainly didn't *need* it but bloody hell did I want it [and am glad i did!]
You can argue almost anything as being not 'needed' - including an upgrade to Win7 itself - but by God I don't miss XP on ANY of my systems (in fact the only thing stuck with it is the 4GB SSD EEPC for obvious reasons).
