We don't know the true characteristics of the 5870 yet, but you've only got 18A on a single rail to cover your CPU and GPU together. Is your PCI-E slot 2.0?
65W TDP CPU. Assume all comes off the 12V rail
4870 150W assume all comes off the 12V rail.
65+150=215W needed
You have 1 12V rail at 18 amps so (12*18)= 216W.
If the PSU is a few years old you may be supplying less. At temperature about 50(?) you'll be supplying less.
mmmmm, find a power calculater on line and have a look. your dession (my spelling id no better!)
