So dont get too excited - this excludes a pre-purchased graphics card (Radeon X1950)

Am I on the right lines with this combination? Is there anything you would swap out?

Re: Cheapie Gaming Build for £250

AMD black edition cpu's should come with a decent cooler so you may not need an aftermarket cooler.

the X1950 while good in it day is now rather outdated if you're looking to play newer games that probably wants replacing.

I take it this is an upgrade, so you need to list what else you're using with it.

£250 is very tight for a FULL gaming build and you may need to look at 2nd hand

Re: Cheapie Gaming Build for £250

For £5 more I think a 4850 would be a better buy than the 4770

But we still need more info on what's avaible in the current pc so we can better judge what can be eaisly kept and what areas are weakest and should be replaced to improve performance.

Re: Cheapie Gaming Build for £250

I'd agree with Cat, go for the dua core cpu there aren't many games that benefit massively from more than 2 cores and you could always upgrade later if needed. Put the £25 save towards that psu too if you need it.
