    Possible audio card conflict

Hi, I bought an ATi HD 4890 GPU, after installing it and the associated software, my onboard audio has stopped working, it doesn't even appear to be present, like its not even there on the motherboard.

Having searched extensively on the Internet for some solutions and the other people have all stated that they just selected their onboard audio from the list, well the only option I can pick is the 'ATi HD rear output', I'd rather use the integrated audio on my motherboard as opposed to the one on the graphics card as I'd like to use the microphone on it for online gaming etc.

I've updated the BIOS of my motherboard to the latest and have installed the latest chipset drivers.

I have an Asus A8N-SLi Deluxe motherboard.

Any help will be very well appareciated

    Re: Possible audio card conflict

Beanfro... Im gonna COPY this thread into Hardware for you.

    But mean time....

Device Manager...(right click My Computer, left click properties) and disable ATI High Definition Audio (under the Sound Video and Game Controlers option)

ATI cards play through the HD port sometimes... might not fix it but worthy of trying.
