    Equium L20-264. Worth the money?

My mate has offered me his Toshiba Equium L20-264 Laptop for £150. Is it worth that? I have been looking for a cheap laptop. It is in mint condition.

I wa thinking of buying a 11.6" Netbook with 1.6 cpu (Out next month i think). Only want a laptop / netbook to take round with me for work related stuff.

Should i go for the Toshiba for £150 or spend £300+ on a 11.6" Netbook?

Looking at Wikipedia the processor was released 2004/2005.

To me it seems a bit expensive for what it is, but you could buy some extra RAM and, if S-ATA 2.5" hard drive, buy a SSD and stay under £300.

Due to its age it lacks handy features that come as standard or very common, such as Bluetooth for mobile phone transfers.

I saw a Staples newspaper advert for a Samsung NC10 netbook for £199 if you bought Norton 360 with it. So add Norton to the cost. Don't know if that was a time limited offer though, or what battery rating was included.

Something to consider is if you are just going to take laptop to work and leave it on a desk all day then bulk and weight won't matter as much. Or did you mean taking it to work and moving around the premises or travelling off site. No idea which would be the more powerful out the Toshiba and Atom netbook if portability not an issue.

Edit: Also how much charge does the battery hold on the Toshiba, as batteries degrade over time. Again only applicable if travelling.

Want to use the laptop 'on the move'. The Toshiba is bigger i suppose. It is older but would be cheaper to buy. Again, it might die quickly and as it is 2nd hand i would be out of pocket!

Maybe better to get a new netbook? I quite like the 11.6" screen ones and i see Compaq are bringing a new one out next month!
