    £600 Build

Hi, im looking to get a new pc (mostly for gaming) and i have a budget of £600.

I have recently bout a MSI P55 GD65 motherboard from a friend which he didnt want for £69 (he got it from the special price offer).

So i have a budget of £531 left. I will also need a moniter aswell so if possible could you try and squeeze that into the budget without going to much over.

    Thanks

What size monitor are you after ? a 22" can be had for around £110 i reckon.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

    Re: £600 Build

    Antec 300 - £43.70
    Corsair 450HX - £52.20
    Asus HD 4770 - £73.13
    4Gb Corsair DDR3 10666 - £72.57
    i7 750 Retail - £149.67
    Samsung TS-H653 DVDRW Lightscribe OEM - £16.22
    1Tb Samsung F3 - £57.01
    22"Acer V223WBbd (1680x1050) - £110.16

    Total: £574.64 @ Scan

Acer could easily be Viewsonic VA2226W
PSU could be a 400W Corsair Power (£38.41) if you don't care about modular and will never use a gfx card with more than a single 6-pin power socket.

Over budget and both screens will be basic. Watch "Today Only" and check vs ebuyer and you might save some of that extra £40.

    I would recommend the Samsung T220 (22",1680x1050).

I agree with Vimeous about most of his choices but a 4770 might be abit weak for a gaming rig. Having said that stretching any higher might go too far over your budget. Maybe invest in a 4870? If you shop around you might find one for £90-100.

    Re: £600 Build

novatech have the aus 4870 dark night on offer @ 91.99 (-3% quidco if you registered) most of the components in the build are on today only at scan as well so a fair few pounds to be saved there (the i5 is on offer and so is the Spinpoint F3). If your registered on quidco/topcash back then dabs have the antec 300 fairly cheap and a cheap optical drive (even less with the cashback sites) which will help u get the price down as well

    Re: £600 Build

If you can spend an extra £16 go for a Coolermaster CM-690, having built around both it and the Antec 300 I promise you it's money very well spent.

I'm not saying the 300 is a bad case, but the CM-690 is fantastic.

There has been talk about the Radeon 5770 being released this month so if you can wait a few weeks, it may be worthwhile to see how the 5770 is priced and how it performs or the effect it has on the pricing of 4870s.

    Re: £600 Build

Yeah, it might be better waiting for a cheaper DX11 card (such as the 5770), rather than buying a 4870.

I think the 48xx series will become EOL shortly after these 57xx cards appear.

    Re: £600 Build

I have another update for you guys. My roomate has decided to split the cost of the new computer with me but not in half, we decided to settle on a budget of £830 to get the most bang out of our buck.

    Intel i7 860 - £206
    1TB Samsung HD103SJ Spinpoint F3 - £54
    Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium - £65
    6GB (3x2GB) Corsair XMS3 DDR3 - £91
    Coolermaster CM-690 V2 Dominator Black - £49
    Samsung T220 -£129

    Total - £545

So i have a total of £286 to spend on a PSU and GPU. I also plan on buying another one of the video cards in the future to run in SLI or Crossfire thats why i didnt include a PSU because i get completely lost when it comes to them.

If you are going to run two high powered cards in SLI / Crossfire then you will need a pretty good PSU, I recommend any Corsair PSU above 600w!

However I am not a fan of SLI / Crossfire because you just end up having 2 out of date cards after a year or two, and the performance increase isn't double

so do you think it is worth buying a good graphics card now, and then buying a better card later on?

    Re: £600 Build

Would it be worth getting a HD 5850, or should i wait for more DX11 cards to comeout and would i need a higher watt psu to power it.

Also could somebody check if the compenents that i listed above will all work together propely, and your more than welcome to change anything around if you feel something else will benifit me better.

    Thanks
