How cheap could we get this?

    £25 CASE: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/CiT-1...ng-Case-No-Psu

^ Just a provisional build atm. Basically using the cheapest decent products I can find. Obviously I've broken the golden rule on PSU's already, but I was wondering if theres money to be saved anywhere else? Is there a more basic cheaper case, a better cheaper mobo etc etc. I know I've spotted a 4650 for 30 quid somewhere and the ram can't surely have gone up again since last year?

BTW Guys, thanks for the help building my computer last year. I rocks even now, never had to clean it up and it is still blindiningly fast and I've used it to hell!

EDIT: Looking for a good core than can handle a bit of video editting and good gameplay. 4GB is a must due to said editting. I have a copy of Windows 7 from my University so an OS is not problem. A basic drive and case are fine, and the HD needs to be no bigger than 360/500GB (£5 extra for a 140GB extra drive is a nobrainer though) Also not fussed about AMD and Intel but tbh we need it as cheap as possible but I just don't know anything about the AMDs and the older P35 boards etc.

http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Colou...-Tower-w-o-PSU - Cheaper case, also doesn't make you want to puke like the horrid thing you linked

The PSU you listed is a tester and not a PSU btw.......
http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/400w-...ed-cooling-fan is the cheapest psu I would even consider from the scan site.

What is your budget as I could probably be able to spec something decent for the price?!

Re: How cheap could we get this?

We dont have a budget yet lol, but the cheaper we can price it though the better chance my mate has of getting it as a Chrismbo pressie lol. I could build it NP but we'd need to save a fair bit of money of that, at least 40 quid if possible. Also an AMD240 wouldnt be a problem but I am useless with AMDs tbh I don't know my nose from a shoe what it comes to them lol. I was looking at a cheapo OCUK computer but after a horror another friend had with his £1200 computer I'd hate to see what I'd get for £300, looked at a 270 without GFX from them but would need a £30 GFX card in for COD4/MW2 etc.

Ideally though, I would build it myself for £250 or less (£200 would be amazingly easier to secure).

PS: Im a retard, I copied the wrong link for the PSU

Re: How cheap could we get this?

This is what I would get:

    AMD Athlon II X2 240 ~ £45

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/AMD-A...che-65W-Retail

    MSI 770T-C45 ~ £47

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/MSI-7...-8ch-AUDIO-ATX

    4gb PC2-8500 DDR2 RAM ~£57

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/4GB-(...S-5-6-6-18-EPP

    Samsung F3 500GB ~ £37

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/500Gb...-Cache-8ms-OEM

    Silverpower 400w PSU ~ £27

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/400w-...ed-cooling-fan

Silverpower is part of the same company as Tagan.

    Asus TA-881 case ~ £18

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Asus-...r-Case-w-o-PSU

    DVD rewriter ~ £16

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Index.aspx?NT=1-0-7-381.489-0

This is the minimum basic build excluding the graphics card I would go for.You may be able to go for a slightly cheaper motherboard but TBH it would not be worth it in the long run IMHO.

I would also look for a secondhand 8800GS or 9600GS0 384mb or an HD3850 256mb or 512mb off Ebay for under £40 unless you want to game at low resolution and low settings.
