Simple question (or is it?), will DDR2 prices for RAM drop back to like their £20-£30 range levels or is it gonna stay at the current price?
Why don't the DDR2 RAM producers just produce more?

going to go up from now on
yes, why don't they make more so they can sell it for lessWhy don't the DDR2 RAM producers just produce more?
ddr2 is dead, its going to get more expensive from now on, eventually it will be 4x the price of ddr3 like ddr1 is to ddr2 now

Glad I got all the DDR2 I'm likely to need before now!!!
It's a shame 4GB DDR2 modules never reached an acceptable price (well apart from ECC-DDR2, but then you need a server grade motherboard).
Yeah, and there were enough boards that supported 4GB modules...
All three of my AMD systems support 4GB modules

I'm SO lucky I bought 2x 2x2gb kits about 2 weeks before the price hike
I've saved myself a whole lot of cash
There is a worldwide issue with yields for 4GB sticks. The only sticks available are from existing stock.
As has been said, but try to put it more succinctly
With both intel and AMD moving over to ddr3 platforms the demand for DDR2 is falling off and will continue to do so.
To reduce prices manufactors have to make the memory chips in larger batches or have less failiers during the manufactoring process.
With falling demand for DDR2 there's less insentive for manufactors to produce larger batches or try to improve there yeild rates on these chips, esp as the demand for ddr3 is increaseing.
However now is a good time to buy 2nd hand ddr2 esp 1gb sticks of ddr2, while some here will look down on 1gb sticks, saying why not get 2gb sticks instead the fact the 4x1gb is still more than enough ram for most needs and can be got for arround £25-35 2nd hand, which is a good chunk cheaper than 2x2gb new (nearly half, depending on speed&cas)
