    £900 build

    Hi

A friend is looking to put together a £900 - £1000 home build from scratch after being messed around by Dell. He's not interested in overclocking, needs a monitor included and is a student so will be taking advantage of the £30 Windows 7 deal. Unfortunately I've not been keeping up with hardware developments recently so don't know the best mix of components. Any suggestions or links to similar previous discussions would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Z

I thought that PSU had an 8 pin connector but it doesn't...the 500W Silverstone Strider ST50F-230 should be fine for the card below.

Under £700 given you £300 for the rest if you can fit it in but may have to drop it an i5 or GTX 275.

I'd look at the i5 build here.
    http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/buy...october-2009/2
They quote £675, which would leave enough money for a very nice set of peripherals.
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.

I love how they linked the ram to DDR2.

Saw that in the comments. The authors reply was...

"Damnit!! I swear that was 1600 DDR3 the other day! "

Uhhm, that psu is not good. Got reviewed by custom pc, got like 10 % for stability. Not a good idea.

They also suggest the Be Quiet 650w, if you're not happy with that one.
