Crazy Q9550 Temp differences between cores

    CPU 22 °C (72 °F)
    CPU #1 / Core #1 25 °C (77 °F)
    CPU #1 / Core #2 35 °C (95 °F)
    CPU #1 / Core #3 38 °C (100 °F)
    CPU #1 / Core #4 38 °C (100 °F)

Just installed a Q9550 using MX2 and my Thermal Ultra 120, and the core 1 used to be hotter than the others on my Q6600

On the Q9550 the Core 1 is the coolest and the others are much higher?

    Could this be wrong?

Re: Crazy Q9550 Temp differences between cores

Looks like the temp sensor for #1 is messed up. I wouldn't worry too much. Currently, my Q9450 is at 42, 33, 42, 44. My #2 temp sensor is messed up aswell

It's under load that if the temps are really weird thats when you want to start worrying. Usually I find under load, my temps line up as "normal".

Re: Crazy Q9550 Temp differences between cores

I remember reading somwhere that these discrepancies between core temps were to do with the fitting of the HSF - in that unless you uniformly applied the same pressure to each HSF mounting pin, then it would be uneven in terms of contact. Seems to make sense, and to rectify, you can try tightening each corner individually and seeing the difference, but well, your temps are good, so really, its not worth the bother

Re: Crazy Q9550 Temp differences between cores

Try stress testing - you might find that one of them is stuck at a certain temperature or something.

My Q9550 has two cores that don't go lower than 45 IIRC - above is fine, but they just won't go lower. It's just dodgy sensors.
