The Scan link will damage your i5/7 CPU. It uses 1.7v the most intel recommend is 1.65v. Also one has fancy DHX the other doesn't.

Re: New build with MSI P55 GD65

I've got a very similar rig:

    i7 860 (scan)
    MSI P55 GD65 (scan)
4GB GSkill Ripjaw 2000mhz (from novatech)
    Corsair HX620 (seasonic OEM)
    GTX260 216 55nm

The ripjaw stuff happily trundles along at 2100MHz (possibly more but i haven't tried pushing further)

But the c3computers link points to the same part number, so the price difference is what I am querying.

However, did not notice the higher voltage.

Cross reference it with the part number on Corsairs website then.

Re: New build with MSI P55 GD65

Retailers will probably be trying to sell the older more voltage stuff off to make room for new greener RAM so it wouldn't surprise me if the cheaper stuff used 'too much' .

mine will be very similar except 1600MHz cas7 ripjaws and i5 750, anyway do check that you are not suffering from a memory bandwidth bug that I saw in a GD65 review, where 1600MHz performed normally but 2000MHz bandwidth ended up lower.

Isn't that going to be fixed by a Bios upgrade though, i think i read the same review.

Is the general opinion that the g.skill are better than the corsair ram then ?

Also, any thoughts on the GFX cards ?

There is some GeiL RAM on OCuK @ 2133MHz with tight latencies for the speed, around 75 pounds i think (4GB)

    I'd say your best going for a 4890 than a 260, similar price now aren't they ?

Re: New build with MSI P55 GD65

Nice to see a few people with this board.

    I Have the GD65 and I5 750 also.

I am interested in the Ripjaw as its price is pretty good - though its gone up in last couple of weeks.

But the Corsair Dominator just looks so good on the board, the price though is pretty high (4x2gb) *(not 4x8gb)* is £200.

2 lots of the 2x2 G.Skill Ripjaw would be only about £170.

    Choices choices!

What do you want 32GB for, i don't think Lynnefield even supports that much RAM.

Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
