Now just need to wait for the 45W quads to arrive...

Bout time we started hitting this power envelope for mainstream CPU's.

I think I'll just unlock my Sempron 140, thanks ;)
Won't be interested until we get the X3 and X4 e editions - nice to see AMD finally trickling their low-power parts down into retail though...

Prices are very reasonable assuming yoyo come through.
Tempted to get one for my mediapc (still using a borrowed x2 5000+) but can't decide between the 45w dualcore or the triplecore at 95w.
I know I should get the low power, just it'd bug me to know an extra fiver could buy another core.
What are they like at idle, does the triple core use a lot more power than the dual core, anyone know?

Must have been miss priced as they are no longer for sale.

well, this is just a hunch.. but i'm guessing that the dual core will use 45w and the tri-core will use 95w, so yeah, more than double.

Idle, if not overclocked would drop to 800 MHz. Both would be similar, about 30% more power usage one would guess, still quite low.

That's kind of what I'm after, I assumed the extra core would draw a bit of power more. Did some looking round online and got mixed reports. But say it is 30%, 30% of what makes a big difference. If the 240e drops to 15watts I don't mind the triple dropping to 20watts as the difference is hardly noticeable.
though is 1) spent money on other stuff and now they're apparently gone
2) just found out the other day while looking in bios I can't undervolt on my mobo. bugger, so will definitely go for a low power when I can.

On some boards you have to enter a key combination to show advanced options, including undervolt options - I think you have to press Ctrl+F1 on the main BIOS page on Gigabyte boards for example.

I do wish people would stop bumping this thread - every time I see it in bold I tihnk "at last, they've restocked the 45W dual cores!" then I realise it's the old one.... ;)

Sorry, I meant in stock at a real etailer, not some batch of OEMs that have found their way onto ebay ;)
Would you buy a processor off someone called "redstripe1976"?!?

Their feedback looks fine and I have bought plenty of computer parts off Ebay with no issues.
If they worked fine and the seller had a good reputation they could be called "tinselfairy2000" TBH.

They are listed for pre-order on Scan now.
240e 45w is £60.

Is it worth waiting for prices to go down?
