Which fan?
I'm looking for a quiet fan yet that at the same time moves a fair amount of air.
I've now got it down to these two fans and was wondering whats best.
Sharkoon Silent Eagle 1000 120mm
or the
120mm Scythe Gentle Typhoon 1450 rpm Cooling Fan
anyone used them and what they're like.
Ideally i'd like them to be quiter with more air flow than my current ones but if they just move more air i'll be happy.
It's just a shame that Coolermaster have made it impossible to find the CM690's fan stats.

Re: Which fan?
I have the 120mm Sharkoon Silent Eagle 2000 and it seems relatively silent and shifts a decent amount of air too.

Re: Which fan?
A lot of people have complained about the silent eagle bareing going "bad" after a couple of months.
You can never fully trust the manufactors numbers as there is no standardised test used to compair them.
General rule of thumb is anything 1000rpm or less is going to be near slient but will not move much air.
anything 1200-1400rpm is low noise and will move more air.
anything over 1600rpm is not silent but move quite a bit of air.
anything over 2000rpm is loud but moves a lot of air.
note on the slient eagle's, I seem to remember that they are not actually 1000rpm and 2000rpm but relative, ie it moves as much air as a fan without dimples at that speed.
I'll bet someone will shortly sugest the Noctua nf-s12 and yes it is nice, but I'm really not convinced they are worth the premium cost.
The one I have has some motor buzz at normal speed which lets it down in my opinion, using the voltage reducer that comes with it cuts out that motor buzz and then it is near slient (you have to have your ear right next to it to hear it)
But conversly the air flow does drop quite a lot.
