Re: How to enable raid on sony vaio aw series laptop ?

    For RAID you need:

    2x the same hard drive
    1x a raid controller

I doubt your laptop will have either.

Re: How to enable raid on sony vaio aw series laptop ?

For Intel chipsets, it's usually a matter of enabling RAID mode in the BIOS under a 'controller type' (should have the option of IDE, AHCI, and RAID modes) option. Then hit Ctrl+F after the POST screen. Few laptop BIOSes have the RAID mode available though. And since your southbridge chip is ICH9M (instead of ICH9MR), it's doubly unlikely that you have the option.

Re: How to enable raid on sony vaio aw series laptop ?

You need a Southbridge or platform controller hub which supports RAID and the other option being a RAID card( you wont be able to use this option). You have neither, you can not do it. The other guys laptop may have a ICHxR/PCH southbridge which supports RAID but the fact it says non-RAID says to me he isn't RAIDing them and as already mentioned its highly unlikely any laptops let you do this, it would be wiser just to stick an SSD in there instead.

for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

The 2 screenshots are using different chipsets. It's showing his as none-RAID as he has the ability to use RAID, but is not using it.

You don't have the ability to use RAID on your system. It simply doesn't support it, sorry.

There are several laptops on the market which have RAID, but they are not very common.

Exactly only you have been completely right here ..
He have ability to enter to the raid option but he said he is not using it correct ..!

I know I don't have second drive but another my mate have connected 2 drives and he can't enable raid at all ..
And that first guy ordered second sata cable into the vaio ... installed in and automaticaly RAID turned on
but on that second mate it doesn't ... some aw series comes with prepared RAID some doesn't how is that possible when board is completly same ??
    I ordered sata cable :

² Intel® Matrix Storage Technology requires a motherboard with the Intel® 82801IEM (ICH9M-Enhanced) or Intel® 82801IBM (Intel ICH9M) I/O Controller Hub System. RAID controller in the BIOS enabled and the Intel Matrix Storage Technology software driver installed. Please consult your system vendor for more information.
