    hp 2300 which jetdirect? differences

    hp 2300 which jetdirect? differences

    ui have a hp laser 2300 =
    http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en...51-238800.html

which can take either HP Jetdirect 600n, 610n, 615n and 680n (EIO) internal print servers .
but which one is better? / differences please?
    615n about 15 £
620 n about 25 £ but doesnt list as compatible but lists 680n as compatible?

If not , 615n will do the trick ? . i only need it for home use for my 4 computers and 4 laptops - it will go into a netgear dg384g 10/100 dsl wireless router . then I can print from an y computer wirelessly in effect?

    the 600N is a 10baseT card
    the 615N is a 10/100 card
    the 680N is a 802.11B wireless card.
go for the 615N the 680n will just slow down your wifi connection

Re: hp 2300 which jetdirect? differences

Question is how you plan to use it?
If it's just connected to one pc just connect it direct by usb.

We still use a load of these hp's at work, they have proven them selves to be good solid work horse printers
Although we have them connected by serial cable to the older external jetdirect print servers, so they can take up too a minute to actually start printing. (depending on what gets sent)
They should be more responsive with the internal jetdirect.

Re: hp 2300 which jetdirect? differences

Opps sorry, well I stand by it as a good solid printer, not the fastest out there buta very good solid work horse, the ones we have at work are around 6 years old, have been hammered constantly and are generally still going strong.
A couple of them are now starting to develop issues but given the life span of some of our other printers they've out lasted them.
One other nice thing is that unlike many new printers when the toner cartridge has used up it internal print count you can still keep printing off it and even when it does finally start going you can take the cartridge out shake it a couple of times and get another 50 odd prints out of it.
the 10A toner cartridge is rated at 6,000 pages and we normally get around 7,000-8,000 pages out of them.
