    Dell Delivery..

i ordered a Dell laptop on sunday, decided to go for the Dell Inspiron Mini 10.
kinda sat here twiddling my thumbs now, pretty excited to get it, as you can expect, so..
    My question is:
how long do Dell usually take to deliver such a product?
has anyone ever had really bad experiences with them?
anyone got any praise for them?

i'm only really asking cos i'm really excited and my 'order status page' says "Your Estimated Delivery Date is on or before: 20/11/2009" which in my eyes gives a long time to deliver the thing seeing as i ordered it on the 11th.

    Re: Dell Delivery..

Last Dell I ordered did take a few weeks, but it wasn't really delivery as much as build and dispatch that took the time. Not sure how much of that is relevant with a laptop product.

    Re: Dell Delivery..

I would expect nothing - I ordered my laptop from then, and was told to expect a 6 week wait, similar to how you have been.

I was pleasantly surprised when 2 weeks later they told me that it would be shipped in the next 48 hours, and to expect it on day X between 8 and 6, but obviously I've got no idea whether that's how it usually happens. On the downside they failed to deliver it at 7:45, but when I complained that it should've been after 8 they reattempted at 12 and I got it

I wouldn't worry too much, if you expect it to arrive in 6 week's time, you'll probably be happy when it comes early/on time. Expect it to come sooner than that, and it proabably will disappoint you

that's such a difficult thing to do though..
forking out the best part of £350 on a netbook is one thing, but then the wait.. of course i'm gonna get excited and impatient.
i can see your point though

    we'll see when it arrives..

Yeah I know, my laptop was a £650 birthday present (my dad owed me some money so it kinda made sense) and it was a royal pita waiting for it to appear. I still had my desktop, so it wasn't crucial, but the one thing that I hate about the internet is buying something and then waiting forever to actually hold it... add in the build times and we're talking majorly itchy feet

Funnily enough my experience was similar, though my order from Dell was several years ago - original delivery date 6 weeks or so but much sooner than that informed it would turn up imminently.

Other than that, little to add as I never had to go back to them under warranty or similar. Hope it turns up soon, nice and shiny!

    Re: Dell Delivery..

    Sorry to hear that...

Anyway, pre-built system like some super special offer or netbook should deliver within 5 days if its actually in stock, otherwise you'll have to wait for them to come back in stock then 5 days from there.

When Dell put any system on offer that means they have a large amount of stock, so if you order quick enough when the deal come out you should get them in a few days. If you order really late it might be over their available stock so putting you in back order.

My last few Dell purchases came pretty quick (and insanely cheap too)

    Re: Dell Delivery..

Recently bought a Dell (Inspiron 15). Everything was great upto the point UK couriers got involved. It took 2 days to ship the laptop from China to the UK, then over 2 weeks to get it from Warwickshire to Hampshire!

All my dealings with Dell over the years have always been spoilt due to shoddy couriers. The only thing you can do is be patient, as raising questions on the support forums doesn't really help (although it is useful to release tension!)

they're actually useless.. some kind of "time scale" would be nice, instead of just saying "we expect it on or before the 20th of november"..

Isn't that some kind of time scale?

Seems a way off - don't worry about not getting it before then, then if you do it's a nice bonus.
