quick system/value check 17" Dell Laptop

I'm hoping to buy this for my sister:
    ------------------------------------------------------------
    Inspiron Studio 1737

    Studio 1737 Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 (2.2GHz,800MHz,2MB)
    Windows Vista® Home Premium;Windows Vista® Home Premium
    System Price : £493.28

    Hard Disk Drive
    320GB HD 5400

Display 17.0 Widescreen WXGA+ Truelife CCFL
System ColorLCD Back Cover Sea Sky

    Wireless Intel WiFi Link 5100
    Keyboard Internal UK English Qwerty

    Studio 1737 Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 (2.2GHz,800MHz,2MB)

Could anyone confirm that at £493 + Del and VAT this is infact a decent deal?

She will probably only watch YouTube on it so the GPU may be overkill!

Re: quick system/value check 17" Dell Laptop

Firstly it is a refurbished notebook and secondly 6GB is OTT for light usage. If your sister is not doing any sort of gaming I would go with a low end HD4*** graphics card as it has the improved UV2 media decoder as opposed to the earlier UVD in the HD3*** series.

I would also be looking to get Windows 7 too.

Also the newer Dell notebooks have LED backlights which are better IIRC.

I would probably go for one of the Dell notebooks listed here:

    http://www.dmxdimension.com/dell-uk/...codes-coupons/

The website I linked to lists the current Dell deals and the links are directly to the Dell website.

The spec you originally listed is decent for the price but it does seem a tad OTT in some regards for normal usage. If anything I would rather have less RAM,a newer but less power graphics card(with better media decoding abilities and lower power consumption) and a more powerful CPU but I suppose I am nit picking. However the fact that the newer notebooks have an LED backlight and Windows 7 would sway it for me personally.

gotcha - that's what I'm going for. Will let you know what I finally decide on
