AHCI without RAID - Win7 Drivers?
Hi all
Am planning on installing Win7 64 bit.
Motherboard is a Gigabyte M720 US3 - only launched this year.
When I used XP I had my SATA drives set to IDE mode and never needed to install drivers.
But I now have 4 SATA drives and want more flexibility. I understand that AHCI will allow more than 4 drives plus eSATA and other improvements.
If I set my mobo to AHCI mode but not RAID will I still need to install drivers on Win7 64 or is that just for RAID?
Can I do that from a USB drive if I don't have a floppy?
Thanks :)

Correct, AHCI (and even most BIOS-RAID, AHCI implimentations) works out of the box, as Vista did.
