Here are the specs for the G.Skill RAM:

    http://www.gskill.com/products.php?index=243

BTW,the Crucial RAM is down to £60:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/166996

Considering the Crucial and OCZ RAM is far cheaper I would probably go for either of these if I was using it in a Phenom II system.

There are probably different versions of the 1600MHZ G.Skill RAM but since the link on the G.Skill website for the model number of the RAM listed on the Ebuyer website says 7-8-7-24 these are probably correct values.

Yeah, that's what I meant. For gaming and using the computer in the real world would it be worth getting the £80 kit or some 1333 memory instead?

There is the OCZ 1600MHZ kit for £65 which I mentioned before:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/173933

The only advantage for going for a 1600MHZ kit would be overclocking AFAIK.

Re: What am I missing on this DDR3 ?

So if I want to overclock the advantage lies in frequency and not latency?
    i5-750 overclocks further therefore with 1600mhz cas9 than 1333mhz cas7?

I know that the Phenom II works better with lower latencies however I am not sure about a Core i5 or Core i7.

But in terms of overclocking or was that what you meant. Why should the frequency make a difference?

If you overclock by increasing the HT speed it will also overclock the RAM with a Phenom II. If you use the multiplier only then the RAM speed will not change. However if you are not increasing the HT speed lower latency RAM makes more sense with the Phenom II. OTH,RAM rated at 1600MHZ should run at 1333MHZ using relatively low latencies.

Not sure! I have been guilty of not reading up that much on the newer Intel processors regarding overclocking as with the AMD processors it has been pretty much the same process for yonks.

There is this guide on the socket 1366 processors:

    http://forums.hexus.net/hexus-hardwa...beginners.html

IIRC,the socket 1156 processors have some differences due to the fact they have more functionality in the CPU than the socket 1366 processors.

I'll just get the G.skill if I can. I mean, it won't perform poorly will it...

Re: What am I missing on this DDR3 ?

Quick up date on the play.com memory.
Not a happy story, the original didn't show up
Had to wait a whole month before you can clame, they said they would send out replacements.
However I've only receved one stick so far and I'm told to wait again for the other . . . looking at my account details there's only one replacement stick as being listed as sent, so I'm going to have to have another go at them.

Good news the play.com 1gb PC3-8500 1066mhz is Micron, both the chips and the sticky lable have the Micron symbol on them
    However it's also labled CL7 not CL6

I'll not blame play.com that my original delivery disapered, (royal fail) however they better sort out this missing replacement.

Hi nibbler. Yes the same applies to i5. The higher the frequency the better when you're overclocking. You will need to readjust your frequency to the closest max frequency in your mb bios.

    Hope this helps

Thats how play roll when it comes to replacements. They do them one at a time and far apart for some bizarre reason...

I had the same when I had an order with multiple items that needed refunding/replacing, they also sent them to me indivdually. Weird business practice if you ask me...
