Can someone in Hexus admin sort this out??
I cannot access the forums without going through a proxy!!
If I don't use a proxy I get the following error message:
"Database error
The HEXUS.community discussion forums database has encountered a problem."
This has been happening since yesterday and is quite annoying TBH!!

Re: Can someone in Hexus admin sort this out??
and can i make one last appeal to be allowed into the 'bargains' section of Hexus? i don't ever remember getting banned from there, but i am.. and i've tried PM'ing several admins/mods about this problem but they always say they'll get back to me.
-
Re: Can someone in Hexus admin sort this out??
I have e-mailed the Hexus webmaster and forum people and have received no replay.
Also I keep getting logged out after around 30 minutes or so when I could access the forums.
-
Re: Can someone in Hexus admin sort this out??
If this goes on for another day I might as well leave this forum. I can't be arsed posting if I have to go though all this rigmarole!!
I am also on the Sudhian forums if anyone is bothered.
See ya!

It seems strange that its broken just for you.
have you cleared any temp files from your browser ? also try a different browser.
fyi: ejecting entertainment devices from your corral when you don't get a response in 30 minutes is unlikely to endear you towards the (volunteer) administrators....

I e-mailed one in the morning and another a few hours ago. Also I have tried three different browsers and two different computers. I have disabled all security software and cleared everything I can thinkoff.

Re: Can someone in Hexus admin sort this out??
your currently browsing via a US proxy from what I can see, so its not your account. I've not had any stability issues and have been online all day. If changing your web connection ( by using the proxy ) seems to resolve the issue , thats where I'd be tempted to start looking. Do you run many browser plugins? if you havn't done so can you try and disable those too ?

I am browsing via a US proxy since if I try to even access the forums normally via any web browser it throws up the error message in the first post. I tried this as a last resort. I can acesss the non forum part of Hexus and even log in there but cannot access the forum part unless I use a proxy!!
It is only http://forums.hexus.net/ which seems to throwing a hissy fit, In the other thread Clunk said he had the same issue sometime (unless it was in jest).
Using a proxy is the only way I can log in. I have disabled all my plugins in firefox to no avail. I have used Firefox 3.5 and 3.6,IE7,IE8 and Opera 9. The last three have no plugins at all and I tried different computers.

Re: Can someone in Hexus admin sort this out??
I can log in too both the Sudhian an OcUK forums fine if this will help.
BTW,I cannot edit any of my posts or thank anyone when using the proxy.

Routing issues I believe, but they have now been resolved afaik.
Cat-The-Fifth - absolutely no idea on your problems though chap :(

Re: Can someone in Hexus admin sort this out??
I tried cycling through the things I did before for the second time(including rebooting the router and The computers) and I can access the forum section again.
OTH, it still doesn't explain why I could log-in to other forums. When I looked on other forums about the error message most replied were suggesting an issue with the websites in question so this is why I made the post(s).
Regarding the ISP it was a speed issue and they sorted it out. I could access any website but at pedestrian rate. Now I get much faster internets.
I don't understand what the heck happened especially since I had tried he same things earlier. Thanks to everyone and sorry to the people who I may have annoyed.
OTH,don't call me a spammer especially since other forums members(londoner being one) have repeated the same questions in different parts of the forum and also when you have people like rollo who have been banned on multiple forums too.

Re: Can someone in Hexus admin sort this out??
Make another account and try logging in with that? If that works it's almost certainly a problem with hexus + your account.
-
Re: Can someone in Hexus admin sort this out??
It seems to work now(my previous post) but still confused what happened as I had tried nothing new.
I believe networks must be living entities of some kind.
Edit!!
Perfectionist seemed to have the same issue as I had:

RAGE QUIT! :p
I'm perplexed by the idea of leaving a forum. Surely you leave it each time you close the browser window?

Got a point there!!

Re: Can someone in Hexus admin sort this out??
I had this issue last night from home, (Plusnet ADSL) but have never had an issue when browsing through work proxies.(US based).
Working fine now though.

I've bumped the issue up to all the mods, we'll look at it for you :)

Re: Can someone in Hexus admin sort this out??
No, it wasn't in jest. Quite often, and for the last few months the site times out, so I do a traceroute and it's usually about 3 servers before the hexus one that is stuffed up, so the fact that you are up and working with a proxy, sounds about right. Remove the proxy and try a traceroute to here.

Re: Can someone in Hexus admin sort this out??
Sound like the issue was with your isp or the route you're isp was taking you to get here.
ps do any of thoes other forums begin http://forum. ?

The OcUK forum and the Sudhian forums both start with http://forum. Also it still does not explain why it was the forums and not the other parts of Hexus which were not affected??
Why this "database" issue as opposed to the normal error codes you get if you cannot get to a webpage??
-
Re: Can someone in Hexus admin sort this out??
Well it could of been if isp filtering was causeing only partical requests to go through.
This looks like it's no simple issue, looks like it was ether an issue with your accout of network pathway.
However that means it's pritty impossible for us non-admins to investigate.
Maybe a Moose fell from a helicopter, missing the panda but hitting your internets cable. ;)

Re: Can someone in Hexus admin sort this out??
I've had issues before which I've only managed to resolve by clearing the cookies for that site / domain.
