A7N8X Delux with sound prob

My old HD just failed so I put in a new ish one and put on windows XP (used to be on win2k) every thing going ok but the computer just would not complete the install. I have had this problem before usually its a network card or some such that stops the install proses (take it out on the bios works fine then install after OS is working). Found out it was the on board sound card that was causing the problems, so fine took it out of the bios, computer works fine. But if I now turn it on in bios then the computer only boots to the windows starting screen then reboots its self and wants to re-boot in safe mode. Again take it out of the bios, then works fine.
Does anyone know of a way of finding out whats going on, the computer is making a mem dump file every time this happens.

Any help much appreciated.

I have found an old sound card installed it, had to re-boot to complete the install but the computer failed to start :surrender::surrender::surrender: as before????
