Maybe a bit of light overclocking in the future, any pointers for a quiet £30-40 PSU?

Well you definitely won't draw more than 250W if you are not overclocking so something like a Corsair CX400W will be fine.

However if you do plan to overclock it may be slightly underpowered but with £40 limit it's hard to get a 450W-500W that provides more than 400W on the 12v rails.

The Corsair provides 360W (IIRC) on the 12v rails so it should be fine for light overclocking but heavy overclocking as I said before may be slightly underpowered. I have one of these so I can confirm it's quiet.

A decent 400W to 500W PSU will do the job.

This should be give you some leeway in case you want to upgrade your system or do some overclocking.

The annoying thing is that I had a nice fsp but blew it up with my diy fan controller wish scan would get some more in cheap. Actually the fan controller is fine, the wiring going in to it was the problem

Ended up getting the 500W Silverstone Strider ST50F-230
And decided to recase wit ha Antec three hundred.

Got it all fitted last night, now pondering a nice fan controller, possibly a NZXT sentry

I looked through pretty much every fan controller ont he market and none of them did what i wanted (auto adjusted fan speeds depending on temperature) some of them claim to do it but when you read between the lines you find that functionality is limited. I would be happy to stand corrected if anyone knows of a decent controller which can do that?

Personally i would recomend an aluminium one with manual knobs to turn... looks smarter imo

Your Asus board have Q-Fan. I have all my Yate Loon daisy-chained (mine have both 3pin and molex, 3 pin to mobo and molex to another fan) so that the exhaust fan runs at the same speed as CPU fan depending on CPU temp, all intake fans run at the same speed dependent on motherboard temp.

Qfan doesnt work very well for me at all, nowhere near enough control over temps/speeds its just 3 settings.
