    NEW BUILD.Around the 500 mark.

This is my proposed spec, I already have a HD 4890 GPU and Windows 7.
Really want confirmation or not that this is a reasonable machine, as I said in the post title I cannot really afford to spend to much more than £500.
    So any advice/suggestions welcome.

    Very reasonable.
Check that the CPU HSF will mount - I know earlier versions of the HSF were socket 775 not 1156.
Also consider 1x1tb F3 rather than 2x500gb if you want to save a bit of cash.

Looks good to me but I would also go for a 1TB Samsung F3 over a pair of 500GB disks too. I would also check the cooler as the newer version supports socket 1156 and not the older version IIRC.

    Looks tasty.
    C5 why a single 1Tb HDD ? Is there a gain ?
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.

A single 1TB disk is cheaper than a pair of 500GB ones. Also I am not a fan of RAID 0 arrays.
