Intel Motherboards Reliability/Stability, What's It Like?

As title folks, I'm looking at getting the Intel DG41TY motherboard for my HTPC as it has a specific layout, as discussed here: http://forums.hexus.net/hexus-hardwa...ic-layout.html.

Now, I've never used an actual Intel motherboard, obviously their chipsets but as I say an Intel manufactured board. How do they compare to the likes of Asus, Gigabyte and MSI interms of reliability, stability and anything else you consider relevant or I've totally missed on.

All advice would be appreciated.

In fact, are there users of this board? If so, how is it? Is BIOS Updating difficult on Intel boards?

I've never had an issue with an Intel board... ever. Whilst they've not historically been overclockers, they are imo very stable/reliable. Currently using an Intel DX58SO.

Lets put it this way...its the only mobo I have ever owned that I cant kill the BIOS on... it's a dream

That's good to hear mate, thanks, not looking to OC as it's going to be used in a HTPC, shame though my Geil Dragon won't run at their full speed of 1066MHz.

I have a DQ965GF which is an older mobo now... it's exactly what you desribed... PCi express nearer to the centre than many, and 2 PCI slots to its outside.

I like that because it keeps the case sides away from the video card, allowing better airflow to the card. And I know also have a PCI sound card too.

If you're NOT gotta overclock then frankly this board all day long. But as you say the ram will be wasted.

Sell it.

Yeah, I'm in need of this as I've the TV Tuners which are PCI based and have the case - Antec Fusion Black already, that and the dual-slot Sapphire HD4870 too, so set on the board layout, good to heat about the thermals for the GPU!

I'll just use these on another board, DFI x38 and either use the Kingston HyperX 800MHz or Crucial Ballistix 667MHz RAM in this board.

I'm aware I could tighten the timings but feel it would be wasted in this motherboard!
