I hate to break this to you, CAT, but AMD have been fabless for most of this year, when they span off their fabrication branch into GLOBALFOUNDRIES which they are only a minority shareholder of.
You have been reading the tech news, right?
Don't see anything in the anandtech article (beyond a single bolded line of conjecture with no supporting evidence) or Hexus's own coverage that states that AMD *are* selling their stake - just that this deal would allow them to, and that it frees up GloFo to act without being an AMD subsidiary. Granted, it would make infinite sense for AMD to sell their share, but would it make sense for ATIC to buy it? If so would the amount it would be prepared to pay suit AMD? It's a long way from "AMD is allowed to be fabless" to "AMD is selling its share in GloFo to ATIC"...
