Scan seem to have the energy efficient versions of the Athlon II X2,X3 and X4 on pre-order though.

That price can't be right, sure - £15 more than a Phenom II X3 705e? Realistically, it needs to be between £80 and £90, like the other Athlon II X4s, to make any sense...
Scan seem to be listing a similar pre-order price. However the Phenom II X3 705e is a 65W part. Still the price of the Athlon II X4 is a bit too high IHO.
typical! on the day all the bits arrive for the HTPC, the 235/240e are finally listed by retailers I would trust.
Still, no eta & so could be a fair while yet I suppose. And the price premium is fairly hefty - 240 @ £42.68 vs 240e @ £60.17.
Though people going for the lower wattage models are probably less interested in top line speed, so maybe the fairer comparison is 240 vs 235e @ £53.75.
Should get the HTPC up and running this morning, and I'll be able to say whether Jim's recommendation of a sempron 140 was a good one
