    Talking corsair H50

    Hey guys,
I got one of these ordered for my birthday already
I plan to get an antec 902 but that isn't final. If I got this case, does anyone know if it would be possible to mound the fan/radiator on the side panel 120mm fan mount space? Just a thought, no idea why it would be a good idea to be honest. Also, this would be cooling an AMD triple/quad core is it really going to be difficult to secure without the backplate cutout in the motherboard tray in the 902?
    Thanks for any thoughts.

Alternatively I been looking at the new raven but was thinking with the 120mm intake at top there is going to be no exhaust at all which would be problematic.

    Re: corsair H50

    Ok a couple of things.

you should be able to mount the rad on the side panel, however it's going to be a bit of a pig to work with.
Because your side panel will now be connected to your cpu by the tubeing, so if you want to take the side panel off you'll probably have to remove the rad again or the cpu block&pump unit.
For my mind that's waaaay to much hassle.
A fan is easy as it's simple and quick to unplug every time you remove the side panel, but as the H5O is a sealed loop you cannot unplug it.

While the H5O is suposed to work best as an intake fan, ie cool air from outside the case being drawn in over the rad
It should still work well as an output fan, ie air from inside the case being pushed out over the rad.

It will be dependent on the case and layout as to how much it will be effected.
The air temp inside the case will be hotter than tha outside air, but by how much? and how much would that effect it?
How much will pressure diferences effect it? the Antec 1200 is a negative pressure case, the raven2 is a positive pressure case.

I'd say that mounting it as an intake fan in a raven would be a very bad idea, the design of the reven2 dumps all it's hot air out of the top of the case, the top section then ducts that air out towards the back, which would mean you'd be sucking that air in passing it over the rad then sucking that same air back in again.

This is also one of the flaws of the H5O if you mount it as a rear intake fan, hot air being pushed out by a bottom mounted PSU and the graphics cards above them will be riseing and getting sucked in by the fan.

What else are you planning on putting inside the case?

PS when mounting the H5O you want the corsair logo upside down and pipes comming out of the top of the block&pump unit, mounting it with the pipes at the side or bottom seems to raise the temps by about 5c

    Re: corsair H50

Ill be shoving a 5770 in, 1-3 HDs, possibly going CF. The h50 is a certainty however, already on its way from scan. I just need a case that it will perform well in, and if the RV02 is a bad idea then obviously I should go for the 902?

    Re: corsair H50

Ok, just checked out this review and they used it as outtake (fitting with the normal fan config of a raven v2) and they get a 3.9GHz cpu to 51 Load. Not bad at all....

    Re: corsair H50

That was sort of the point I was trying to make, it depends on the layout and air flow of the case.
If you had something like the Akasa Mirage where the rear case fan was the only out take fan, then swapping that for an intake would be bad.

The Raven2 has good air flow, going vertically, the main sources of heat inside a case are (in most common order) CPU, GPU, northbridge/MOFET, memory/hard drives
PSU not included as most cope well with their own heat and don't radiate much into the case

Most of the heat produced by the gpu's will get drawn stright up out of the case
The chipset&mofet's can get quite warm but never close to the amount of heat made by the cpu or gpu, same goes for memory.

PS there's a major design flaw with the Raven2 you need to be aware of
    http://forums.hexus.net/hexus-hardwa...drive-bay.html
remember to fit the hard drives into the cage before fitting the motherboard.
Although you may be able to slot the cage in from the front . . . I still love the concept of the raven2

Cheers pob, i still don't understand why people need so many harddrives, I only have 50GB of space used up on mine so 1Tb seems more than I would ever need

Only 50gb?? I've just had to clear up a load of space on my 250gb drive I use for storage & games

But then again I've got 40gb+ of music&audio books and another 40gb+ of anime on there.

are there many differences between this and the revised h50-1? is it just the mounting bracket for 1156?

If it doesn't come with an AM2/3 bracket I'm sure you could ask nicely on the Corsair section.

    Re: corsair H50

I just ordered this as part of a new system, but am slightly concerned about the lifetime. According to the Corsair FAQ:

The expected lifespan of the average unit is significantly longer than the 2 year warranty period.
Considering the PC will eventually be passed on to family, one expects the system to survive for upto 10 years. In the above statement, "significantly longer" doesn't fill me with confidence in it lasting that long.

It's a sealed unit so no-one yet has tried refilling one. The pump is a bit of an unknown and I've already heard multiple tales of vibration and buzzing from the pump. Personally I wouldn't touch one with the proverbial.
