    Is there such a beast?

Looking for a microATX socket 775 motherboard, must be DDR2, with a minimum of 6 SATA ports, preferably 8. Found a DFI DK P45-T2RS PLUS but stuggling to find any alternatives (to be used in a media server so don't care a jot about graphics capability). Cheers!

cheers, anyone know of any others, other than the DFI, that has 8 SATA? The DFI has the SATA sockets sticking out from the board rather than on top of the board, making it too tight a fit for the case.

Why not just buy an extension card with extra sata ports? eg:

I understand, but the card's only £17 quid - and if you're not careful you'll be paying more than that over a 6 port board just to get an 8 port board

does anyone else wish their relatives would find someone else to be their computer expert?
'I've got £50 left over from Christmas, can you build me a 4Tb server?'

Better - tell them you're a banker. They'll stop asking for advice immediately

on a closer look that DFI board is ATX not mATX, oh well he can have 6 SATA ports and if he wants more he can cough for a pci card. Cheers guys.
