    Cheap headphones

I wanted to buy some (really) cheap headphones earlier today, was buying some stuff from Scan at the time, but they don't seem to stock any.

They need to have a band over the top, so no in-ear buds or neck ones. Audio quality is irrelevant, they don't need a mic attached, they just need to be cheap. If they're cheap and don't fall to bits, that would be nice, as I've no interest in saving £1 to get something that won't hold together.

Any recommendations on brands/retailers to look at? I was thinking about Amazon but they don't seem to have anything suitable from my quick searches.

    Re: Cheap headphones

under £5 is pushing it really cheap headphones that will not fall apart
Check local market/£ store and and pick up 5 sets of cheap fall apart things?

Play.com is great for this low cost sort of thing, for it's free delivery
    Bit more money but
    Sennheiser HD 201 £13
    http://www.play.com/Electronics/Elec...s/Product.html

Goldring DR50 Dynamic High Fidelity Stereo Headphones £13.50
    http://www.play.com/Electronics/Elec...s/Product.html

Both are good and fairly high quality sound without being hidiously pricey

    Re: Cheap headphones

Pob255 probably has the best suggestions, but if you don't mind waiting a few weeks for delivery, and quality really doesn't matter then you could order some from dealextreme (based in HongKong). I haven't ordered headphones from them before, but have ordered many other things. They sell a number of very cheap headphones that seem to fit you criteria such as:
    http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.3742
(Works out to less than £2.50 as shipping is free)

Anyway, they sell lots of really cheap lower quality headphones, just have a scan through their listings here:
    http://www.dealextreme.com/products.dx/category.207

    Good luck

Im with Pobs suggestions to be honest.

You usually make that £5 extra back by the fact they dont fall apart

    Re: Cheap headphones

I can fully support the Goldring DR50, I got a pair a while back, really nice, solidly built, a single 3m long quite thick wire, great sound and boy are they comfy.
the main down side to them is the mesh back make them as leaky as heck, not a problem for the person wareing them, but anyone else around you will hear it.
If other people are not a issue they are great

    Re: Cheap headphones

Yeah I'll probably move the budget to a tenner or so and go with something like that then - at the end of the day sound quality isn't important so I thought we might be able to get hold of something with fairly rubbish drivers but still a decent build quality. It looks like I was a bit off in my estimate on that front, but I'm okay with that

    Cheers

That's okay, I'm intending to buy in bulk - I'll have a look at them next time I get chance.

What are they like for Bass ??

I've got a set of Sennhesier's and I paid quite a bit of money for them, the sound quality is great but when it comes to bass they are as flat as a pancake

    Re: Cheap headphones

You've got to laugh, tasked with finding some headphones with microphones attached this time, Amazon provided us with Dynamode headsets at a massive £1.22 each.

Let's see how long it is before they all fall to bits

    Re: Cheap headphones

well just before xmas we had to get 70 pairs of head phones for the new online French mock exams.
We got some from cpc at a massive 50p each, at that cost it really didn't matter if they fell apart (or more likely got pulled apart)

And yes things like this go to mindless destruction more often than actual hardware failing, expensive or cheap.
So if it's going to get pulled to bits in a month or two, might as well get the cheap one.
