Check my spec before I buy, please
Asus Crosshair III Formula AMD 790FX (Socket AM3) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard
AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 955 Black Edition 3.20GHz (Socket AM3)
Corsair HX 650W ATX Modular SLI Compliant Power Supply
OCZ Gold 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
Budget: £450
I have an HD4850, case, and harddrives I can re-use. Will all of this stuff work together?
Thanks in advance. It's been a while since I built a new PC.
Re: Check my spec before I buy, please
Looks good, if that RAM is OCZ then it will run at that latency with phenom II (AFAIK).

That's the only thing I was wondering about. I got stung on my last build when the RAM I bought needed a higher voltage than my motherboard would provide out-of-the-box.
Thanks for your response.
Re: Check my spec before I buy, please
I think I heard that OCZ is certified to run at low latencies (CAS 7-8) with am3 wheras Gskill won't necessarily. Where is this RAM btw, I'm interested. That RAM should work great though and the voltage required won't be too high for Phenom II to handle but as a general rule don't go over 1.9V.

I found it on overclockers.co.uk
Seems to run at 1.9v as standard...
There's also this kit:
OCZ Gold Low Voltage 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit
Which is allegedly optimised for Intel chips, so I'm not sure if it is what I want.
- 1600MHz DDR3
- CL 8-8-8-24
- Available in 4GB optimized kits
- Unbuffered
- Gold Layered Z3 XTC Heatspreader*
- Lifetime Warranty
- 1.65 Volts
- 240 Pin DIMM
And here's another kit at 1.65v:
OCZ Obsidian 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 Dual Channel
- 1600MHz DDR3
- CL 9-9-9-24(CAS-TRCD-TRP-TRAS)
- Unbuffered
- Obsidian Black XTC Heatspreader
- Lifetime Warranty
- 1.65 Volts
- 240 Pin DIMM
Can't post links as I don't have enough posts.
Not sure what is best!

The Phenom II memory controller thrives on lower latencies than outright speeds:
