Get 2 Samsung spinpoint F3 1TBs for backing storage and either an ocz vertex, intel x-25 or a crucial SSD.

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/120Gb...he-Onboard-Sol

    I7 920 is £200 and is a beast

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Intel...MB-130W-Retail

    P6T Deluxe/regular for £160-£200

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Asus-...-SATA-RAID-ATX

CPU cooler go for Corsair H50 IMO

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Corsa...-2plus-AM3-NEW

Any Dvd drive from a well known brand

Fans that are quiet and with good airflow are the Gentle Typhoon ones

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/120mm...pm-Cooling-Fan

6GB of Triple channel DDR3 is probable best, Get corsair Dominators

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/6GB-%...-CAS-8-DHX-EPP

For the case if you want a door I would say something from Lian-Li probably but I personally would go for the coolermaster ATCS 840

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Coole...-Black-w-o-PSU

And finally the Graphics. I would say go for the 5870/5970 if you can afford but if you want to go intel then the Gtx295 is still the best.

    Wasted money on that though^^

    Re: new pc

i don't think that scan would build it. they just sell, (though they do sell pre-build computers though) it really isnt that hard to build a computer though. i did it without help, just take it slow and don't rush anything. and im sure people here can help you too.

ahh right, i think you will get a lot for your money if you are able to build yourself. but i guess buying a prebuilt one from scan (as opposed to pc world) will be good too best of luck. if you was in London was going to offer to help

    Re: new pc

They were good once, but a lot of people have had problems with them over the last few years and many of us where so put off by the experience that we'll not go back.

You should be able to contact Scan to get a custom build and swap the case for one you like
(try asking on the Scan section on this forum )

As to nvidia graphics cards, depends what you want it for and when you want it.
Currently the best for games are the new ati 5xxx series however early next year the new nvidia series graphics cards should be coming out which may put them on top again, what's more this new series *should in theory* be far better for CUDA if that is the reason you're after an nvidia card.
