Re: Post xmas £1200 Build
I'm going to sound stupid here.
But why not ask after christmas? Who knows what offers/deals will be about.
You might even end up with a dell :P
Re: Post xmas £1200 Build
Your PC is already a very good spec. why not just get a new graphics card, like the 4890 (this is what i have just done) spend the money on something else! your system does not need an overhaul!
Re: Post xmas £1200 Build
I dont think its the fact that it needs an overhaul, I think he WANTS to give it an overhaul for the sake of giving it an overhaul I guess.
As for what to get, I have no clue.

Hit the nail on the head there pretty much. Maybe i'll use my current one as a media centre :P
Re: Post xmas £1200 Build
I would look at a socket 1156 Core i7 860 and HD5870 within your budget. OTH you could also use the socket 1366 Core i7 930 when it is released in January providing it is under £250.
OTH,check the spec of the prebuilt system out:

You could fit a 24"LCD screen,an HD5870 1GB and a better case as upgrades for a £1200 budget.
I would be aiming for at least the spec of the Mesh build or perhaps better if possible especially if you do not need a monitor!
Re: Post xmas £1200 Build
Just one suggestion - if you don't like the colours on your monitor, have you considered calibrating it? If it's a TN panel like most of the cheaper Samsungs are you won't get 100% accuracy, but in my experience just about every LCD I've dragged my Spyder 3 round to has been very, very cool at default settings.
