Help with new power supply to replace HEC 550TD PTE

I have a Mesh computer which is about 2 years old and the power supply has stopped working.

It has a HEC 550TD PTE power supply. On the power supply it says:

    +5V&+3.3V Combined 185W
    Total Output 550W

I'm going to go to PC World (in the UK - it won't let me post their URL) tomorrow, so I can get a new power supply before the weekend and hopefully use my computer again.

Would anyone be kind enough to have a look on their website and see which power supplies they stock which would be suitable replacements?

    Many thanks in advance

Actually, failing PC World, would the "Colors 550W Gold 12Cm Silent Atx Power Supply" on Amazon.co.uk be suitable?

They have that one available for Saturday delivery, so that would be just as good

PC world tend to stock crap psu's. Their website is showing a lot of 'Jeantech' psu's which firstly I dont know how good they are and secondly they seem rather pricey.

How much are you willing to spend? And what are your pc specs? Give us those 2 things and we will be able to recommend you a psu

Edit: Dont buy that psu on amazon, its bad quality

If you can afford it get this PSU:

    http://www.ebuyer.com/product/132563

The PSUs which PC World sell are really terrible and are actually made by companies worse than HEC!!

Some Maplins have the FSP Blue Storm II 500W PSU in stock:

    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=45512

If you are on a tight budget you might want to look at these PSUs available on Amazon:

PC World used to stock Hiper units which werent too bad - but the current range on their site is very limited.

There are various specialist components stores that have pick up points if its time sensitive, depending on where you are in the UK of course.

It might be nice to see the spec of the PC, as I'm not sure the wattage the OEM puts in is necessarily the best indication of the ideal wattage. Especially if you are switching to a higher quality unit you could probably get away with something a bit lower.

HEC are not too bad as some of their PSUs are reasonably decent. Of course it depends on the model though!
