Just something that made me lol
Been flicking through this Scan build http://3xs.scan.co.uk/ShowSystem.asp?SystemID=979 and i see it comes with said Corsair PSU and a GTX 260...
Anyhow, the other week i was in Scan and purchasing a 4850 and said PSU. Guy behind the counter tries badgering me to upgrade to the dearer one (550W) saying the 4850's are really hungry and this low power one might not work - But it will power a GTX 260, even though the recommended for them is a minimum of 550W...
Salesmen eh ?
Re: Just something that made me lol
Well, retailers will always try to sell you something more expensive. Using a larger PSU probably reduce the chance that users blow up PSU over the 5 yrs warranty period so actually cost them much less than selling you a 450W one.
The 450W will power the 4850 fine. Doesn't even hit 300W on mine at full GPU + CPU load.
Re: Just something that made me lol
Things to note, that scan system is using a low power e5300 cpu
If you've got a quad core cpu esp if heavly overclocked the power demands go right up.
However a 450w vx should be fine for a 4850 the seller was probably just erring on the side of caution.
Did he actually sugest a gtx260 to go with the 450w?

Huh? The minimum PSU requirement from GPU manufacturers is for morons will be looking for the Watts thingymajig their case came with. That doesn't matter to system integrators at all.
<-- see comp spec.
