    My new server...

... well I don't care about common hardware so I have been trying to get a certain setup for a while... some shots....

Lets start with a shot of the back of the chassis:

...now on to whats under the case...

... remove this panel and you find the PSU

... then you undo this hinged door to find some ducting.....

.... under the ducting there is the beast

    ... this thing drinks juice....

    .... oh and needs memory....

    .... and when mounted....

.... cheapest part of the system next...

    ... so whats powering this?

    ... close up!

I just need to whack in a pair of 73GB SCSI drives and it will become my fileserver, local webserver, backup box, and of course my firewall This system used to be used to test early stepping madison Itanium cores - currently has 2 * 800MHz 2MB Cache CPUs in it - the powerpods are the black boxes next to the heatsinks... has 2GB ram in it [all 128MB sticks] It looks very impressive and is a little 'loud'

So thats my server.... how is yours?

Technically this is a 'workstation' configuration - but I think it will just about perform as a local server

Nah - this one can't be stolen... the ultimate feature - they would break their backs lifting it.

Nice but more than id need for now. My Router does a good job keeping people out, and my p2 400 junk system handles the rest. Keeping a quality pc in use costs enough couldnt cope with two
