proposed build, and still having trouble deciding on GFX card.
This is intended to serve as a budget gaming computer.
From you generous people here i have pretty mcuh settled on the following:
My budget is £400.

msi 770 c45 amd 770 am3 ddr3
--------------
RAM: £60
crucial 4GB (2x2) ddr3 1333MHz / pc3-10600 Ballistix memory kit c16 1.8v
--------------
Operating System £80 (max, depending on shops neer me and lucky finds on ebay/amazon etc)
windows 7 home premium 64bit
--------------
PSU: £35
OCX stealthxstream 400w (is this enough?)
--------------
Case: £25
Coolermaster elite 330, no PSU, 1 fan included.
--------------

Probibly going to go for a 4770, maybe a 4850 is i can find a cheap one.
that comes to £385, leaving me £15 remaining for everything below, and the things ive undoubtidly neglected.
What is there that i've missed out?
No ones sugested a heatsink, nor extra fans, the coolermaster only comes with one, would that realy be enough?
Apriciation in advance!
edit:
I will be building thisyself, if you think i will need any adapters/spare cables please say so.
edit: updated.
Re: proposed build, and still having trouble deciding on GFX card.
Yes that psu should be enough, and no you shouldn't need any extra fans unless you are planning on overclocking... you only need extra fans for higher spec equipment that draws more power and creates more heat. I'm currently also building a system on a very similar budget: http://forums.hexus.net/hexus-hardwa...bo-advice.html
I too also haven't decided on a video card.
Can you give a link to that PSU? I may go for that one myself.

Re: proposed build, and still having trouble deciding on GFX card.
You need 100 posts to use the Hexus "Sales section" forums though so that\'s a no go.
The PSU will definitely be enough for what you have at the moment.
A 4850 or 4770 is what I\'d recommend. 4730 is good although it is sort of a nerfed 4870 so I\'m not too fond of it. If you go for a 4770 or 4850 you won\'t need any other connectors. a 4730 will require a 6+2 pin PCI-E connector. You could try look for an 8800GT/GTS on eBay if you trust that site enough. This is better than a 4670 and will most likely cost around the same but will come second hand.
You\'d want a 120mm intake fan so grab whatever sounds about right. The stated specs of manufacturers are never as good as they sound though so don\'t expect a "Silent 1000CFM fan" to actually be what it states haha.
You won\'t really need a CPU cooler unless you\'re planning on doing overclocking.

I believe the coolermaster comes with a 12cm intake fan, do you mean an additional exhaust one?
edit:
and thankyou for the card advice =]
Re: proposed build, and still having trouble deciding on GFX card.
Well it says "Cooling System One 120mm front fan(optional) One 120mm rear fan" but either way, not much difference, it's always good to have an intake and exhaust as that means no heat gets trapped in the system and all your components inside are better off.
The card he linked was a 8800GTS OC 512mb
(4850> 4770> 8800GTS 512MB> 8800GT 512mb> 4730> 8800 GTS 640mb> 8800 GTS 320mb=4670 FYI)
Above is not 100% true but it's just my opinions of the cards anyway. They are all at stock settings.
Re: proposed build, and still having trouble deciding on GFX card.
Maplins have an HD4850 1GB in stock for around £80:
http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...27858&T=Module
Also IIRC I have seen the card in one of their stores for this price.
There is also this slower GTS250 Green for a few quid less:

Re: proposed build, and still having trouble deciding on GFX card.
Eclipse also have a gts250 for £78
http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/prod...e=GC-XNGTS2505
If it's the one pictured then it's the standard nvidia stock card.
ps the gts250 performs around the same as the 4850
they've also got a 4850 for £70 again if same as pictured then it stock card & cooler
http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/prod...e=GC-XR485H512
however unlike the nvidia stock cooler the sti 4850 stock cooler was not that good. (fan runs loud to deal with them temps)
Re: proposed build, and still having trouble deciding on GFX card.
Updated original post.
Does anyone have any examples of the max this build would run?

It is my BFG 8800GTS 512mb OC Edition.
Re: proposed build, and still having trouble deciding on GFX card.
Personally go for a Samsung or WesternDigital hard drives over a seagate.
Couple of £ more but both under £33 for 320gb

http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/320-G...MB-Cache-89-ms
no monitor, keyboard or mouse ?
A 2nd low cost 120mm fan would be ok as would a low cost 120mm fan based cooler but not vital
low cost quiet 120mm fan

Granted the tri cool is not a great fan, but the speed control gives it an advantage and it's not that bad a fan.
PS where are you buying from? best to add small things to a larger order otherwise postage costs can cost more than the item.
pps play.com is good for the odd low cost thing as p&p is free, although it can be a right hassle to find stuff on the play website
