    Logitech Z4

I remember ages ago somebody (on hexus I believe) suggesting getting Logitech Z4 speakers. At the time I had no money, but just recently I decided to spend some money I got for my birthday on the set. Can't say I'm disappointed. I've never used 2.1 speakers with my computer, so playing games with a sub-woofer vibrating under the desk everytime I shot a bullet started out as a weird experience. I quickly got used to it and after watching Watchmen I don't know how I could live with those tinny, generic speakers I used before. Absolutely love these speakers, best £60 I've spent in a long time. They look absolutely amazing and best of all sound spectacular.

I can actually hear my music now. I can distinguish each individual instrument, and it overall just sounds a million times clearer and obviously better quality. I felt more immersed in the games I played, notably Left 4 Dead 2 - I literally jumped when a tank came running towards me as I could hear each pounding footstep so clearly. Great fun .

Hmm, the point of this post? None really, other than to boast about my sexy new speakers. If you are looking for a new set of mid-range speakers, get these .

Anyone else have them? Care to give your 2 cents?

Yep - I've got them, think I got them for around £50.

Great speakers. Enough bass for gaming and electro, but plenty of treble and detail for indie etc.

They look great and the the control unit is quite handy too. You can take off the stands and wallmount them too

    Love my Z4 speakers

I remember them being £50 when someone suggested them, but cheapest I could find em was £60 now. The control unit is very handy indeed. I love that it has a headphone socket built in. An issue I had before was trying to listen to music at night when everyone was in bed. Didn't have any way of sticking my headphones in - now I do .

It's a crying shame the unit doesn't have a mic input I've found a way around that however so it doesn't bother me greatly.

Yeah good speakers are a must - as soon as I got z5500s I could not believe how I managed to live with generic pc speakers and it made my previous cheapo Logitech pair (which I thought were already a massive step up from generic) sound like dogs farting. You really don't know what you're missing until you get them. Good speakers = happy ears!

    Re: Logitech Z4

Nice speakers, the Z4s. I've had mine for about 18 months now and they still sound great. Good bass and great mid/treble response from the satellites too. Controller is handy as it does Volume/Bass and has a headphone output too.

Can't fault them for 50 quid. Only criticism I have is the glossy piano black finish of the satellites scratches easily when cleaning, but glossy piano black finishes seem to be all the rage these days on pretty much everything! A shame because it's a royal PITA to keep stuff clean without causing scratches/fingerprints etc.

    Re: Logitech Z4

I actually have the Z4's too, they are pretty decent although I dont really enjoy the sound as much as the (broken) T40 II's they replaced. Maybe I was just more used to the 2.0 sound though. (Though they do look a bit more stylish, and the T40's were absolutely massive to have on my desk)

Custom PC did a round up of 2.1 systems in their latest issue - I don't actually have it here although I do remember the Z4's didnt win, it was suprisingly a Genius set that can be had for around £30 (I dont have the model no, I know it isnt the Ultra flat ones that are around though). The Z4's got plus points for style, but the Genius was the best for sound quality. Of course sound quality can be quite an objective thing, but I felt obliged to point out the group test, as I wish I had seen it before I took the plunge. Obviously you have taken the plunge too, but maybe useful for anyone else thinking about getting these.

I bought them for 44.99 from Amazon a few months ago. But I dont think they were that price for very long, saw it posted somewhere.

Edit: I think it's these ones http://www.cclonline.com/product-inf...85&tid=frooct# but don't quote me as they do have low quoted power output, though I dont really know what that means in truth
